Easton, PA - February 12, 2025: In a Patriot League matchup, Lafayette College defeated American University 72-55 Wednesday night at the Kirby Sports Center to earn a regular season split. American had defeated Lafayette 54-52 on January 29th in Washington DC.
Lafayette led the entire game as they pushed the ball on offense and were able to finish drives inside. Lafayette’s defense also pressured American all game and forced them to commit 17 turnovers. Lafayette was also clutch from the free throw line going 16 for 18. They out-rebounded American as well 36 to 29.
Lafayette was led by the guard duo of Teresa Kiewiet (12), a sophomore, and Abby Antognoli (1), a senior. Kiewiet scored a career-high 27 points to lead all players and she had 3 steals. Antognoli scored 18 points. Sophomore forward Tasha Chudy (10) added 10 points for the Leopards. Local Parkland High School graduate Talia Zurinskas (0), a freshman, played 17 minutes, had 4 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals on the night for the Leopards.
American University was led by Cecelia Kay (32) who had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles.
